Best TA ever

Last night I emailed my Physics TA about my Friday 2 hour lab class. It falls directly during the peak hours of our Pastafarian Preaching, which greatly saddened me. Physics lab, however, has set make up dates for if you miss a lab for a valid reason, like illness. I asked if me being in charge of a student organization's day long counter protest would constitute as a valid reason...and he said sure!

Granted, I didn't include details of what we were going to be protesting (Brother Jed, I can't tell you how excited I am for that) or what we'll be wearing while protesting, or even what club it was for...but he didn't ask. Maybe his noodliness used divine intervention to sway his opinions.

Now if you'll excuse me, I need to get my pirate costume ready.

  3. The key to Brother Jed is not to counter protest, or tell him he's a jerk, everyone already knows that anyways. Instead its best to ask him about his sinful days. Ask him why your professors are going to hell (Can it please be because of that Calc 2 test he just dropped on me?)

  4. Whoa, icons. Where did that come from? Cool.

  5. Our goal is mainly to take attention away from him

  6. If he's in physics, he's likely a Pastafarian, himself.

  7. The icons are yet another of Blogger’s 10th birthday presents pack. Check it out; it’s chock-full of goodies. =P

  8. I agree with Sili. We physics folk understand. :-] Have fun with the counter-protest! We want more pictures!

  9. I'm still wondering if Brother Jed is just a name of several guys who aren't the same guy, but are the members of some bizarre-ass Brother Jed Cult.

    And, yaaay, icons, or something!

  10. Bitchin'. Icons. I love it.

Anyway, can't wait for stories/pictures, Jen. So tired after a marathon D&D session, I totally typed "Hen" in there.

  12. I'm a physics TA at Notre Dame and I am agnostic. I would have let you go to a counter protest, does that mean that if I were to let someone go to one that I could be co-owner of the best TA ever title?

And yes you read that right, I am a grad student at a campus even more religious than Purdue. ND has a good physics program and one of the best nuclear physics groups in the country. Sadly, I was not aware of MSU's excellence in nuclear physics until after it was too late to apply.

  14. Wait, there's one of those guys in Indiana too?

There's definitely a guy at UCSD who sits in Library walk who will talk about his days of sin and just how awful he was before he found Christianity. He apparently has some very dirty stories.

  15. Agree with Sili et al. It was studying physics for years that turned me into a heathen in the first place. There were a few theists in my program, but absolutely none doing fundamental research. I found that pretty telling.
