I Squid Science

I needed something lighthearted after yesterday's drama (which is apparently still continuing today) so I decided to make the PZ/Ham comic a t-shirt. Then I realized I accidentally saved over the large file, so I don't have a shirt-quality image. Fudgenuggets. Don't worry, I'll redraw it as close to the original as possible - you'll get your shirt soon!

But until then, I thought I'd draw something else for a shirt/mug/merch/etc:After seeing the comic, someone wanted a shirt that says "I (squid) the Creation Museum." Not sure if I want to do that - most people will probably not get the reference and think of it as an endorsement of the "museum." But I liked the image in my head. So what do you think? Would you actually be interested in buying this, and if so, what phrase would you want? I (squid) Science? I (squid) Biology? I (squid) Squids? Let me know!

  1. Nice drawing, that's for sure. Unfortunately, the museum is a bit far for me...

  2. Heh, I love it.

Though I'd have to think for a while to come up with something I like so much I actually *squid* it ... *ponders*

(And a little suggestion: MAKE BACKUPS!!! Once you finish a pic, before you even think of publishing it, make copies and store them in different folders, such as one large "Backups" folder or something. You WILL be thankful you made the effort. Backups saved me from having to remake half the images for my blog after a freak hacker attack crippled ImageShack some time ago.)

  5. I actually really like I (squid) Cephalopods".

However, you might want to consider spreading the lower...upper...tendrils to emulate the shape of a heart more. It made me think twice. Of course, I can't draw.

  6. I'm lazy, there'll be no tendril spreading ;P

  9. Wow, that drama thread looks like quite the cesspool, so drawings to seem in order.

But as per Veritas, this squid makes me wonder about something EXTREMELY important: what is the female equivalent of a "phallic" image -- is there an accepted standard word for it?

  10. Oh, I'd love to get that as a present for my friends! They love cephalopods! Do it, do it, do it! "I (squid) Cephalopods" or "I (squid) Science" or "I (squid) you" or anything would be cool. :D

  11. Michael: I was going to say "vaginarific," but apparently the internet claims the word is "yonic."

  12. Yonic is a foolish word. I make a motion to change the word to vaginarific. All in favour?

  13. I have a second for the motion. Can we have a general move on this by the main body?

  14. We need a picture of Harry Potter on a broomstick chasing a golden Cephalopod, with the caption "Squidditch".

  15. Ah, but if "yonic" is removed, you screw up a line in this parody worthy of Gilbert himself.

And @Veritas - if you get into procedural double entendres, I'm going to have to ask that the table be reinforced for the motion.

  16. UWC I LOVE that idea. Omg.

  17. Nudger: I always use a good sturdy conference table for these things.

And UWC: Yep. Yep, you win this thread.

  18. UWC - that is so much better than my "Squid Pro Quo" idea, it's not even worth comparing.

You win the thread, and a cookie.
